How CBM is calculated
- CBM (m³) = (Length × Width × Height in cm) ÷ 1,000,000, multiplied by quantity.
- Cubic Feet (ft³) = CBM × 35.3147.
- CBM is the standard chargeable unit for LCL ocean freight (1 CBM ≈ 1,000 kg). For air freight, the volumetric weight uses a divisor of 6,000 (express couriers use 5,000).
- Always measure the OUTSIDE of the carton (incl. corner protectors) — carriers measure to the largest point.
- ⚠ Pallets, slip-sheets, and overhang are part of the chargeable volume — a 1m×1m×1.2m pallet of cartons = 1.2 CBM, not the carton stack volume.
