With Spotyard's DDP service, we coordinate freight, customs clearance, duty, GST and final delivery to your specified location in Australia through trusted third-party carriers and licensed customs broker partners. You pay one price and we coordinate everything.
DDP shipping simplifies importing significantly. Budget certainty is guaranteed because all costs are included upfront — no surprise customs bills arriving days after delivery, no unexpected GST invoices, no additional handling fees. You know exactly what you're paying before goods leave the factory in China.
Unlike FOB (Free on Board) where you assume responsibility for shipping and customs clearance, or CIF (Cost Insurance and Freight) where duties and final delivery are your concern, DDP places all responsibility on Spotyard to coordinate through our partners.
Customs clearance is arranged through licensed Australian customs broker partners at every major port — Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Fremantle. This involves submitting an Import Declaration to the Australian Border Force, applying the correct HS tariff classification, calculating duty and 10% GST, and settling payment before goods are released. Spotyard coordinates this process and does not itself hold a customs broker licence.
Many shipments from China also trigger biosecurity assessment by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). Wood-packaging declarations, fumigation certificates and quarantine treatments are common requirements, coordinated through our broker partners alongside your clearance. Where eligible, we also help identify China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) duty concessions.
For imported goods valued over $1,000 AUD, an Import Declaration and GST calculation are required. Our DDP quotes include duty and GST estimates upfront, so you can price your products competitively while maintaining margin.
